As part of activities marking its fiftieth anniversary, the Confederation of African Football is organizing a voting system through its website to choose African best player in the last 50 years Fans can either pick a player from the list or nominate one of their own choic.

Only 50 names will be published on the CAF website in descending order (starting from last to first) as from December 2006 to February 8, date marking the foundation of CAF in 1957 in Khartoum.
In order to give old and new generation of players equal chances, considering the fact that older generation of players did not enjoy the media impact, It has been decided to assign a coefficient to each of the four periiods.

1957-1970 : coefficient 4
1971-1980 : coefficient 3
