SoccerEgypt already reported some time ago about the possible transfer of Ahmed Hassan to Belgian Champions RSC Anderlecht. The management of RSC Anderlecht confirmed officially now the capture of 31-year old Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Hassan from Besiktas in Istanbul. Ahmed Hassan won the Africa Cup earlier this year and was voted best player of the tournament. Ahmed Hassan will be officially presented on Wednesday 24 May 2006.


In an official press statement it was revealed that further details about the transfer will be released in a press conference in the presence of the player ahmed Hassan this Wednesday. Ahmed Hassan was also presented to the purple and black supporters on the club's official web site.


Ahmed Hassan had hopes of staying at Besiktas until the last moment but following Murat Aksu's negative statements about Ahmed Hassan, the Egyptian international Hassan changed his mind and signed for his new club RSC Anderlecht. SoccerEgypt can confirm that Besiktas´ manager Jean Tigana finally released him due to his free spirit and individual football style.
Ahmed Hassan's agent made a comment and revealed to the Egyptian media today that Hassan will sign a 2 year contract with a possible one year extension. R.S.C. Anderlecht offered a 3 years contract but Ahmed Hassanprefered to sign only for 2 years plus a 1 year extension option.





It is strongly expected that Ahmed Hassan will play as an attacking midfielder behind Turkish striker Serhat Akin, Frenchman Gregory Pujol and Belgian Mbo Mpenza. Ahmed Hassan had been transferred to the tradidional Belgian Club to replace their legendary playmaker, Swedish international Par Zetterberg who retired last month. The Anderlecht manager was especially pleased with Hassan's performance on the right wing when scouting him.





Ahmed Hassan started his professional football career at 17 and with 20 he already made his debut for the Egyptian national team. At 22, Hassan joined Turkish football club Kocaelispor. Thereafter he played for Denizlispor, Genclerbirligi and Besiktas.
