Ahmed Ghanem And Moshir MUSTAFA become the first Egyptian players to play in Azerbaijan after they signed with first Division Club Genjlerbirliyi Sumgayit. Last season Ahmed Ghanem had unsuccecfull season with Polish side Legia Warszawa and decided to take an adventurous chance to join one of European more unknown leagues. His friend Moshir MUSTAFA joined him at the club.


Genjlerbirliyi Sumgayit are on the 8th place in the Azerbaijan Premier League which consists of 14 teams in total.


Genjlerbirliyi Sumgayit lost their first match of the season 1-6 against Neftçi 1-6. On Match Day 2, the team won their first point in a draw with Olimpik, while Genjlerbirliyi Sumgayit lost again the week after 3-0 against Baki 3-0.


In the fourth round they finally got their first, beating FK Gilan Gabala (2-4). The match was already decided after the first half. Adil Shukurov, Issa Nikiema and Moshir MUSTAFA scored in their 3-0 victory for the home side. Moshir MUSTAFAis the first Egyptian player to score in the Azerbaijan Premier League.
