Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan scored a hat-trick to lead Mainz to a thrashing 4-1 home victory over Energie Cottbus in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The score was 1-1 when Zidan started scoring. He added the 2nd and then the 3rd from a penalty kick to end the first half in a 3-1 lead for Mainz. In the 2nd half, the Egyptian added another goal to end the game in a 4-1 win for Mainz
Zidan's first goal came in the 22nd minute when Sato sent a through pass to the onside Egyptian who sent the ball low to give Mainz the lead once again.


Five minutes before half time, the referee awarded Mainz a penalty kick and Zizou scored from the spot confidently as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and placed the ball calmly into the bottom corner to make the score 3-1 for Mainz.

In the 2nd half, Zidan added the 4th goal for Mainz to seal his hat-trick in the 61st minute, the goal came after a fine through pass across the field from Sato to Zidan who was onside and had only the keeper to beat, the Egyptian kept his nerve and played the ball gently beyond the oncoming goalkeeper to end the game in a 4-1 win which put Mainz in the 14th spot in the table.


It should be noted that Cottbus goalkeeper saved another goal for Zizou when he parried a low shot from the Egyptian after a few minutes from the kick off of the 2nd half.
