Zamalek held Ahli Jeddah to a 1-1 away draw on Tuesday to advance to the Arab Champions League semi-finals as Group A leaders.

Alaa Abdul-Ghani put the visitors ahead one minute after the quarter hour mark before Brazilian striker Antonio Caio leveled the score in the 71st minute.

Zamalek finished the ACL quarter-finals on top of the group with 11 points, one ahead of second-placed Ahli who booked the other semi-final ticket.

Zamalek stunned the home crowd in the 16th minute when Amr Zaki laid off the ball to the onrushing Abdul-Ghani, who fired a powerful right-footed low drive into the bottom corner of the net.
Ahli pushed forward searching for the equalizer but were kept at bay by Zamalek's resilient backline.

Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Aboul-Ella almost doubled the lead in the 24th minute when he connected with Tarek Al-Sayed's cross from the left-flank to head just over the bar.

The Cairo giants' hopes of maintaining their advantage suffered a blow as striker Zaki and goalkeeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed had to be replaced at the interval due to injury.

Forward Mostafa Gaafar and stand-in goalie Mohamed Abdul-Monsef were introduced.

Ahli had the upper hand in the second-half, launching attacking waves through attacking duo Malek Moeaz and Caio.

In the 61st minute, Moeaz rounded Yamen ben Zekri inside the area before hitting a close-range shot that was blocked by Abdul-Monsef.

Caio grabbed the equalizer ten minutes later when he cut ahead of Ben Zekri inside the area to receive Moeaz's through pass and slot into the back of the net.

Moeaz should have sealed a precious win ten minutes from time but fired wide with the goal at his mercy after being set-up by Caio.
