Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan scored but couldn't save Mainz from a 3-1 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday
Mainz couldn't score early on when they had chances and they conceded two goals in the first half. Leverkusen managed to score another goal from well placed freekick in the 2nd half which made the job very hard for Mainz and Zidan. However, the Egyptian Super Zizou scored his side's only goal from an individual effort to end the clash in a 1-3 home loss for Mainz. .

Follow up:

A double-salvo from Bosnian striker Sergej Barbarez in the 41st and 44th minutes gave the visitors a comfortable lead before Bernd Schneider made it 3-0 seven minutes after the break.


Zidan was on target for the ninth time since joining Mainz in January, but his 75th minute strike proved to be a late consolation for the hosts.
Mainz remained in 13th place with 30 points, just one point above the relegation zone as their recent revival suffered a setback.
