Mainz lost at home to Hannover by one goal to two. Zidan was once again the goalscorer for Mainz as he scored their only goal in the 81st minute. The Egyptian also had two chances in the first half but wasn't lucky to score. Hannover took advantage of counter attacks and scored twice while their tight defense made the job hard for Zizou and his teammates.

Mohamed Zidan's late goal was not enough for Mainz whose battle against relegation suffered a huge blow following a 2-1 home defeat to Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.


The Egyptian international striker hit his 13th goal of the season in the 81st minute but his goal was just a consolation as Arnold Bruggink and Chavdar Yankov's goals put Hannover ahead.


Mainz remained second from bottom with 31 points, and they will face an uphill battle to make it to the safety zone in their remaining three games.


Zidan has been in a superb goal scoring run since joining Mainz from Werder Bremen in January despite the club's poor league position, scoring more than 70% of his side's goals.
