Anderlecht's hopes of clinching the double were demolished after they were handed a 2-1 away defeat to Standard Liege in the second-leg of the Belgian Cup semi-final on Wednesday.


Axel Witsel put the hosts in front two minutes after re-start but was cancelled out by Mbokani Bezua's strike in the 65th minute.

Ahmed Hassan missed the first half as he was on bench. Ahmed Hassan was suffering from flu and Verchauteren couldn't use Ahmed Hassan at full potential. He only introduced Ahmed Hassan at the 64th minute and the Egyptian showed some good touches and accurate distribution.

Anderlecht needed to score twice to advance to the final and Ahmed Hassan was about to help them achieve their goal but While Anderlecht were close to score another goal, their goalkeeper Zitka failed to control the ball and lost it to a striker, the latter tried to dribble past Zitka but the Anderlecht goalkeeper fouled him inside the box and the referee awarded the homeside a penalty kick from which they added their 2nd goal.


Anderlecht are currently in charge of the league table with 75 points, two ahead of second-placed Racing Genk with two matches to go.
