Zamalek have signed Masri defender Karim Zekri on a four-year deal for EGP two million, the Cairo giants announced on Thursday, the player will receive EGP 900,000 per season.

Zamalek are aiming to strengthen their shaky backline, which cost the team in many occasions over the past two seasons in which the team endured trophyless.


The men in white are also close on agreeing a deal to bring back their former defender Beshir Al-Tabie from Turkish side Rizespor.


The 22-year-old Zekri took part in Egypt's U-20 team African Cup of Nations triumph in 2003 under the guidance of current national team boss Hassan Shehata.


He also captained the Egypt Olympic team during their 2008 Beijing Games qualifiers campaign where they were eliminated at the hands of Ivory Coast.
