BIRMINGHAM CITY are ready to step up their interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Hossam Ghaly.

The 26-year-old Egyptian international does not figure in Martin Jol's plans for next season and Blues boss Steve Bruce is ready to hand him a £1million lifeline.

Ghaly is out of favour at White Hart Lane after he threw his shirt away and stormed off after being subbed against Blackburn towards the end of the last Premiership campaign.
