Ahli won the Super Cup on Thursday for the third consecutive time by beating Ismaili 4-2 in shootout after the teams tied 1-1 at Cairo International Stadium.

Mohamed Hommos put Ismaili ahead in the 32nd minute before Shadi Mohamed made it 1-1 two minutes before the break.

Going in the penalty shootout, Sebastiao Gilberto, Mohamed Abou Treika, Osama Hosni and Shadi Mohamed scored for Ahli while Mohamed Barakat’s kick was blocked.

On the other side, Abdullah Al-Shahat and Mostafa Karim converted their attempts but that wasn’t the case with Abdullah Saied and Ahmed Samir Farag who missed the first two shots.

Follow up:

Ahli had the first sight of goal when Wael Gomaa seized on a deflected pass from Abou Treika but the ball went inches next to the post.

But it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when Sayed Moawad crossed a free kick in the box to Omar Gamal who headed into the path of Hommos for an easy tap-in.

It took Ahli only 11 minutes to respond as Shadi leveled the score from the spot after Abou Treika was fouled in the area.

After the break, Ismaili were the more fluent force for about 15 minutes but failed to convert their domination into goals. Ahli got back on track and took control of the game courtesy to a better physical condition.

El Ahli best chance was in the 61st minute when substitute Ahmed Adel sent Barakat clear in front of goal but the latter’s shot went just over the bar.

Ahli manager Manuel Jose threw in all his attacking cards as Hosni and Emad Meteb came into action but with no influence on the score.

This is Ahli’s fourth Super Cup title and the third in a row.
