Mohamed Zidan's Hamburg SV enjoyed a winning start as well, beating Hannover 96 1-0 away.
The only goal came from Namibian midfielder Collin Benjamin after 23 minutes as HSV held on to bag the points.

SV were the better side throughout the game and created more chances than the homeside. However, the first 20 minutes went wihtout real danger on both target.

In the 23rd minute, HSV won a freekick which was swung high into the box, De Jong laid the ball with his head to Benjamin who fired the ball high at goal to strike the underside of the bar and go in to make the score 0-1.

and the HSV seemed to be heading for victory as they launched their counter attacks, but in truth, things became very tight towards the end of the game. Hanover threw everything at the Hamburg and Frank Rost became the centre of attention late on as he denied his former team mate Lauth (88.), and then produced a stunning reflex save to deny Hashemian (90.). The ref blew for time seconds later, and no one in the AWD Arena could deny that HSV were well worth their win on the balance of play.
