Ahmed Hossam (Mido) could rewrite the club's history books against Northampton by becoming the first player to score in each of his first three games for Boro.
Having followed up his debut goal in the 2-1 win at Fulham with another on his home debut against Newcastle on Sunday, the £6m signing will be hopeful of finding the net again in the Carling Cup clash.

Follow up:
Many have tried and failed to achieve the feat of scoring in their first three Boro games since the club joined the Football League back in 1899.
The last player to score in their first two appearances for Boro was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who followed up a last-minute equalizer at home to Newcastle with a fine strike in a 5-3 defeat at Arsenal.
However, he was unable to continue the run, failing to score in the following week's 2-0 victory at Fulham.
