A PULSATING derby saw Boro lose three players though injury in the first hour, come from behind to take the lead, only to be denied by a late equalizer, writes GORDON COX from the Riverside.
It took just 76 seconds for the deadlock to be broken when Michael Chopra's shot hit Grant Leadbitter and fell kindly for him to slot past Mark Schwarzer.Boro equalized when Gary O'Neil's cross was headed in by Julio Arca and then Stewart Downing drilled past Craig Gordon from 25 yards out.

Follow up:
But with time running out Miller fired in a left-foot shot from 20 yards.
Middlesbrough appeared as if they had the game in the bag with Sunderland looking all out of ideas in the last 20 minutes.
But Miller took his half-chance wonderfully to provide a dramatic end to an intriguing battle between the two youngest managers in the Premier League.
Ahmed Hossam ,Mido was one of the best players of the game as usual after 32 minutes from the start Mido headed down into the path of David Wheater who, from the edge of the penalty area, saw a left-footed volley deflected just wide.
Mido had been struggling with what looked a hamstring problem for much of the first half. So much so that Lee Cattermole was to be the third replacement in the opening 45 minutes. But as the board with the player's numbers on was raised by the fourth official five minutes from the break, the Egyptian international signaled his willingness to stay on. The change was revoked and Mido headed just over the bar when meeting a free-kick.
Mido appeared for the start of the second half and looked freer in his movement. It was his strike partner, though, who went close to putting Boro in front, curling just wide with a low effort from 20 yards.
