Etoile Sahel coach Bertrand Marchand has told the Tunisan press that title holders Al Ahly did not deserve to reach the final of the MTN CAF Champions League.

“I have watched them against Al Ittihad in the semifinal and they suffered to win by a single goal,” said Marchand.

“In my opinion, Al Hilal of Sudan, whom we have beaten, is a much better side than the Egyptians.”

Marchand also insisted that the reigning champions are a 'lucky' team, but this will not be enough when they face his side.

“I also witnessed Ahly winning the title last year against Sfaxien, despite the latter being the better side.
“Ahly depend too much on their experience and their luck, but they will need more than that when they face us.”

The former manager of Club Africain also claimed that the Egyptians can be easily contained.

“Their key figures are goalkeeper (Essam) Al Hadary, (Mohamed) Aboutrika and striker Emad Moteab. If we manage to stop those players, they will be easily contained and we will definitely win the title.

“To be honest, I had much more worries when I faced Al Hilal," Marchand added.
