Follow up:
Moatassem Salem had put the Egyptian hosts ahead in Sunday night’s game just seven minutes fro the end of the game after the first 83 minutes failed to produce a goal.
But a curling free kick from the Brazilian saw a share of the point for the MTN-sponsored Al Merreikh.
The Sudanese attacked from the opening whistle against an Ismaily team without coah Patrice Neveu and three star players, including Hosni Abd Rabou, who is the subject of row of a proposed transfer to MTN CAF Champions League holders Al Ahly.
Ismaily had to clear off their own goal line but at the other end Salem could have opened the score twice but his close range headers were denied by the bar and the Al Merreikh goalkeeper.
In the second half, Mohamed Mohsen Abou Greisha missed a golden opportunity for Ismaily from close range.
