Furious Egypt were left stranded at the MTN Africa Cup of Nations on Friday as organisers botched up their travel arrangements.

Egypt were due to fly from Accra to Kuamsi, where they will play thier first game on Tuesday against four-time champions Cameroon.

Egypt arrived late on Thursday in the Ghanaian capital Accra and could not fly onto Kumasi straight away because there are no flight flights to Ghana’s second city.

Follow up:

Instead they stayed overnight at an airport hotel and were told they would be on a 10am connection on Friday. This was then changed to 1pm but when Egypt arrived at the airport their plane had already left … with the Cameroon team in their place.

Egypt officials were then promised the plane would return to ferry them to their base in Kumasi but this was again changed when local organising committee officials said the aircraft would stay at Kumasi overnight.

Having checked out of their hotel, defending champions Egypt were battling through Friday to find alternate accommodation, stuck out on the streets for more than six hours.

Egyptian Football Association president Samir Zaher said: “It’s a disaster but we have to carry on. Now you can’t compare this with the organisation of our event in 2006.”

It's not a disaster as mr samir Zaher said.
It's just a well known practise ,that's doen by tens of clubs and tens of hosts countries in order to create a disadvantageous athmosphere inside one of the main candidates for the throphy
