Match Reports, Egypt Division 1: Ismaili vs Ahly 0-4

Ahmed
24th May 2006

Ahli crushed Ismaili 4-0 on Monday in the last round of the Egyptian League in an ill-tempered game in the Ismailia Stadium.
International midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika scored twice to finish as the league's top-scorer with 18 goals.

Mohamed Barakat and Mohamed Abdul-Wahab were also on the score sheet. Ahli, already crowned champions, raised their point tally to 72 while Ismaili remained fourth on 39 points.

Barakat broke the deadlock in the sixth minute through a close-range shot after being set-up by Emad Meteb.

In the 27th minute, Ismaili's Sayed Moawad engaged in a verbal spat with Meteb and referee Ahmed Ouda booked the Ahli striker.

Barakat was also cautioned after eight minutes because he allegedly elbowed Ahmed Khalifa off play. The television replay proved that the Ismaili player dived.

Ahli were awarded a penalty-kick just two minutes from the interval when Barakat was clipped inside the area by Ismaili keeper Mohamed Fathi, who was handed a yellow card.

Ismaili officials protested the decision and captain Mohamed Soliman 'Homos' was given a straight red card for improper protest.

Mohamed Abou-Treika stepped up to deliver a successful spot-kick and stretch Ahli's lead just before the break.
Mohamed Abou-Treika widened the gap in the 52nd minute from a second penalty-kick after Ismaili defender Ahmed Khairy controlled the ball with his hand inside the area.

Abdul-Wahab put the icing on the cake in the 71st minute when he curled a free-kick that took deflection from the wall and settled into the back of the net.
