Argentinean striker Nicolas Frutos notched a brace to help Anderlecht beat Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-0 in their UEFA Cup group stage opener on Thursday.


Frutos opened the score in the 36th minute with a fine strike into the bottom-left corner and secured the victory in the 70th minute heading in Lucas Biglia's cross.


Anderlecht's Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Hassan played for the whole 90 minutes but has been far from his form. He failed to create any threat on the opponent's goalie except from some long-range shots that were easily denied.

Ahmed Hassan's Anderlecht did the unexpected and qualified to UEFA cup group stage despite their poor result in the home first leg where they drew 1-1. Anderlecht won by a single goal in the 2nd leg through Serhat Akin in the first half and managed to defend their lead. Ahmed Hassan played the full match and showed a solid display.
Egypt skipper Hassan played the full 90 minutes and contributed to Anderlecht's victory as they aim to make up for their disappointing UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Fenerbahce.

Belgian champions Anderlecht where held to a 1-1 home draw by Rapid Vienna on Thursday in the first leg of the UEFA Cup second round.
Ahmed Hassan assisted the opening goal in Anderlecht's ,Hassan crossed the ball to Serhat Akin who found the net in the 11th minute. The Egyptian showed a solid performance in the game and created many chances for his teammates but the finishing was poor from the Mauves. In the 82nd minute, Hofmann equalized for the guests from a freekick to end the game in a disppointing 1-1 home draw.

Wasteful Anderlecht drew at home with Rapid Vienna in the UEFA cup. They conceded a late goal to end the first leg match in a 1-1 draw.
